Most positions are full time; however, some positions may be offered on a part-time basis depending on both company needs and the desires of the applicant.
Building Analyst/Energy Auditor
Requires Building Performance Institute (BPI) certification which can be obtained after applicant begins work. Preference is given to those applicants with BPI certification in hand. The Building Analyst is responsible for: conducting building performance evaluations (energy audits) on homes and buildings while following all applicable BPI standards; preparing building performance recommendations and providing them to customers in a timely manner; the preparation and presentation of proposals for building performance improvements and closing sales to customers; preparing contracts and related documents to facilitate the sales of building performance improvements; and coordinating with management and crew chief in planning and scheduling of all improvements. Additional requirements: ability to work in tight spaces; a valid driver’s license.
Crew Chief
The Crew Chief is responsible for the successful completion of all aspects of home performance improvements assigned to the crew s/he leads. Applicant must: possess strong problem solving skills and be able to direct all crew members in the proper application of their work; possess leadership qualities and be able to command respect of the crew; and be able to identify potential problems, hazards and delays in getting the job done. Applicant does not necessarily have to have carpentry skills but must be able to direct his/her crew members in the performance of their jobs. The Crew Chief works with the building analysts, production assistant and management with the planning and timely execution of projects. Additional requirements: ability to work in tight spaces; a valid driver’s license.
Mechanic 2
The position of Mechanic 2 requires a minimum of four to five years of construction experience, preferably residential. Applicant must have strong carpentry skills including but not limited to demolition, drywall installation, spackling, door and window installation and measuring, framing and finish work. Must be able to work with little or no supervision after given a task. Must be willing and able to learn and perform weatherization techniques. Basic knowledge of plumbing and electric is helpful. Additional requirements: ability to work in tight spaces; a valid driver’s license.
Mechanic 1
Requires either: one year of formal training in carpentry and less than one year experience in the field; or: two to three years of general construction experience in the field. Applicant must be willing and able to learn and perform weatherization techniques as part of their duties. Applicant must be willing and able to assist and take direction from other crew members in completing any task the crew needs to accomplish. Additional requirements: ability to work in tight spaces; a valid driver’s license.
Assistant Mechanic
This position requires basic knowledge of light carpentry and construction but does not require any formal training. The Assistant Mechanic must be able to assist the other crew members with all aspects of completing home performance improvements including job site preparation, clean up, material staging and use of light power tools. Additional requirements: ability to work in tight spaces; a valid driver’s license.
